Does your son or daughter love playing basketball? The Calvary Temple Sterling Youth Basketball Camp is the perfect opportunity for your son or daughter to spend time playing the sport they love, improving their skills, or for beginners, learning the fundamentals of the game. This free co-ed camp, now in its 5th year of operation, is open to kids ages 8-14 and will be held at the Calvary Temple facilities in Sterling, Virginia from July 13th to July 17th.
What can participants expect at our youth basketball camp?
A Focus on the Fundamentals
As with any sport, a strong foundation in fundamentals is the key to improvement; that’s why campers will receive training in dribbling, shooting, layups, defense, offense, rebounding, and more. We keep these drills exciting and engaging, and more experienced players will find that we adjust our drills to ensure they remain challenging.
Campers will have plenty of opportunity to put the skills they learn at camp to use by simulating game play via 5-on-5 scrimmages against other campers of similar age and skill level. These scrimmages stand out as a fast-paced and effective way for campers to step up their game, while having fun at the same time.
Inclusion of the Faith
Each day of camp campers and coaches will gather for our Coaches Corner discussion on faith. At Calvary Temple Ministries, we believe that faith is instrumental in teaching youth athletes about character, and we use daily Bible verses and lessons to demonstrate the importance of strong character both on and off the court. Campers that demonstrate exceptional character and sportsmanship will be recognized with an award, to be given out daily
An End-of Camp Celebration
On the final day of camp players and their parents will participate in our free pizza party celebration, sponsored by The Dons’ Wood-Fired Pizza. Our pizza party celebration will also include a fun coaches contest!
With so much to look forward to, register your child for our 2015 basketball camp today! As one of our most popular summer youth camps, it’s always a good idea to sign up early and secure your child’s spot.
